How to make a FB app for a fashion brand

by Lorenzo Grandi on October 12th, 2010

Almost 2 years after the first Facebook Developer Garage Milan, many companies have been convinced that Facebook is an essential tool to engage customers and push new products.

The fashion brand D&G enters Facebook through the front door with a brand new app based on its new perfume collection. The app is called WHO ARE YOU? and was developed by Mikamai.

Written in Flash, the app is a quiz. It’s immediate and effective, and engages the users by matching  their characters and D&G perfumes. The users can share the results on their wall and… let them go with the flow :)

How does it work? There are six doors and mysterious images are hidden behind them. The user choses one door and sees a tag cloud, then he picks the words in the cloud which best describe his way of being – and the game is over. The result is a character profile linked to the related perfume. You smell like what you are.

We also developed a communication campaign and seeding activities along with a partner of us.

We had 4 thousand users on the first day – the earlier comments are positive – please try the app and let us know what you think!
